Vegas Trip Report Feb 16 - 19, 2018 ~ @ MSS, VP and Royal Flushes

Well this trip report is long overdue, and I apologize for that...I've had it written up for quite some time but never got around to adding the photos...'til now.  Our most recent trip to Vegas was February 16 - 19.  This was the last trip of our streak of going 4 months in a row.  This weekend worked out well because it included the Presidents' day holiday so we didn't have to take any time off of work.  Anyways, let's get to the trip!

Friday February 16
We left LA after work around 7:00 PM.  We weren't in that much of a hurry since we knew we were going to hit traffic either way and, as always, we hit traffic going through the Cajon Pass but it wasn't as bad as it could have been.  Once we got through everything picked up and we made really good time, finally arriving at MSS at midnight.  What's that?  You want some blurry pics?  Weird request but sure here ya go.

Check-in was quick as always and we had all our things up in the room in 5 minutes.  Unpacked some essentials, got our fridge loaded up and down to 777 for a bite to eat.

We both started with a drink, I got the hefeweizen and L got a cranbery vodka and we decided to try the seared ahi salad.  The food was good but we probably would have preferred sushi had the bar been open...one of the downsides of arriving so late as they usually close it around midnight.

After dinner we hit the casino.  I had some decent luck at the Boar's Head Bar playing VP.  L played some VP with me and also tried her luck at the slots.  I wanted to make a point of playing a lot more 5 and 10-play video poker after I had a blast with it my previous trip.  Here are a few nice hands on 5-play Ultimate X DDB.

Also had a very exciting 4 to a royal draw with 4 hands at 3x and 1 hand at 12x but the best I could pull off was a flush.  Still upset about that hand...could have been something really great but that's how VP goes.

Did manage to hit a few more nice hands anyways like this quad 4's at 4x for $400...that's a lot of 4's.

Apologize for the blurry pic but I just love getting dealt hands with decent multipliers.

Even got the elusive straight flush...I seem to only get one of these every trip.

First quad aces of the trip...no multiplier but $200 is $200.

I absolutely love getting dealt 3 aces...and yes I'll always break up that full house.

...except this seems to happen every single time I do.  I think I've hit quad aces when I've been dealt 3 only a couple times.

And 3 aces again...

It's now 4:12 AM...and the bar (and casino) are pretty empty.

All in all we got 14 scratch cards for the night resulting in $32 (including one $5 and one $3).  I held my own on VP and unfortunately L didn't have much luck at slots for the night but she did decent at VP as well.  After over 4 hours of gambling we decided to call it a night, only down about $200 so not too bad for all that entertainment and all those free drinks for two people.

Saturday February 17
We had a long Friday with work and the drive and gambling into the wee hours.  We woke up around 10:30AM and took our time taking showers and getting ready for the day.  We decided to eat at Aloha Specialties for breakfast at the Cal, even though it was close to 2PM by the time we got there.  I still opted for their delicious Portuguese sausage with rice & eggs while L went with the saimin soup.

We both left feeling quite satisfied.

On to VP at the Boar's Head bar!

I started out pretty strong and quickly hit quad 4's with a kicker with a 2x multiplier for $400.

Other than that and another quad (10's) I didn't hit much more.

We ended up making a reservation for Redwood and we both got an order of the king crab legs.

After a filling and delicious dinner it was time to head back to the casino, after all it was only 9:00PM

This trip I wanted to run a few hundred through a 10-play $1 machine.  I didn't see what I wanted but we found a few 5-play $1 machines and went with that.  $25 a hand is a lot but at the same time with multiple hands you seem to always win on at least something.  We had a few real close calls but didn't quite get what we wanted and ended up playing it all down.

After that loss it's time to go where I know I can hold my own...Boar's Head Bar. It's now 9:35PM.  I decided to start with single play after the previous session and of course less than 5 minutes in I'm dealt quad 8's right off the bat.

All these pictures are sequential...no new money was deposited so it's fun to watch the credits move up and down off the original hundred.

Getting close to 2:00AM and we decide to call it a night.
Ended up with 13 4OAKs for the day, resulting in $27 in scratch cards.  Why it flips some pictures sideways is beyond me.

Sunday February 18
Our last full day in Vegas, and we'll be leaving early tomorrow morning so we can't stay up too late...that's always the plan anyways.

Took our time getting up again and headed over to Siegel's at El Cortez.  Used the 2 for 1 from the LVA and ordered the shrimp scampi and ribs.  Both were delicious.

Headed back to MSS, cutting through Binions and the Cal.

Decided to try a banana split from Lappert's...it was a lot after that meal, even for the two of us.  Quite delicious though.

Only thing to do next is win some money back at the Boar's Head.

Ended up having to slow it down a little bit so I switched to single play for a while.

Quick sushi dinner break at 777...always forget to take pics of our sushi.

It's our last night, and we always have good luck on our last night, so might as well bump it back up to 5 and 10 play and go for broke.

Finally got that elusive Royal #2.5!  You can read the previous report on what a half royal is.

Ok so now we're back in business...let's enjoy the rest of the evening.

Quad aces with kicker for $500.  The last night always seems to be our luckiest.

Then a couple hours after the first royal flush, this happened...Royal #3.5

Total for Sunday is $63 in scratch cards.

All in all the trip was great.  The big hits at the end definitely helped make up for all the cash we bled out on Saturday.  Ended up with another free trip in the books...sure feels good bring home an intact bankroll :)
